FIGS & ROUGE Hydra Matte Pore Correct Velvet Cream Review

Today I'm reviewing a product I completely finished up! Therefore, I'm only using images from the brand itself, my tube just looks horrendous. I'm talking about the Figs & Rouge Hydra Matte Pore Correct Velvet Cream. A longer name is just impossible! It is suggested tu use this on top of your day cream, but I mainly used it as my day cream.

Just quickly the steps of what my morning skincare routine would look like, using the Velvet Cream:

  • Eye cream

  • Hydrating serum

  • Face oil

  • Figs & Rouge Velvet Cream

  • Optional sunscreen

The cream promises you four main results and I will tell you if I thinks it meets up to those promises:

  • Innovative Pore perfecting formulation with a replenishing & hydrating matte effect I do not have pronounced pores, so I can not tell you a lot about that. But I do feel like it nicely mattifies my skin (even after my face oil), whilst not making my skin feel dry. My skin feels soft, velvety and plump to the touch after applying it.

  • Brightening complex with Vitamins A,C & E helps restore natural radiance I do think it helps to restore the natural radiance of your skin, though I absolutely wouldn't say this is a real resurfacing treatment. I see it more as a product that will help maintaining a nice bright complexion. There are a couple of acids in the formula (see ingredients further down), but they are very low on the ingredient list.

  • Purifying & perfecting Salicylic Acid helps unclog & reduce pore size Like I said above, the acids are really low on the ingredient list. I think I would contribute the nice results I had with this cream to the witch hazel, aloe vera and chamomile, which are soothing and calming the skin.

  • Smoothing hyaluronic acid helps restore long – lasting vitality Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see no hyaluronic acid whatsoever in this ingredient list!

Just before you can read all of the ingredients here, I wanted to say that I coudn't find any ingredient list for this product on any website, not even on theirs! What skincare brand doesn't list the ingredients with the product on its site?! So I copied them from my tube, luckaly the list is not too long!

AQUA (WATER), HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA (WITCH HAZEL) PLANT DISTILLATE, DIGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, ALCOHOL, CARBOMER, PANTHENOL, ALGAE, ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF GEL, GLYCERIN, TRIETHANOLAMINE, ALCOHOL DENAT, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (MATRICARIA) FLOWER EXTRACT, PARFUM, PLANTAGO LANCEOLATA (ENGLISH PLANTAIN) LEAF EXTRACT, SODIUM SALICYLATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, MAHONIA AQUIFOLIUM (OREGAN GRAPE) ROOT ETRACT

I have no problem with any of the ingredients here, but do note that there are alcohol and perfume in this formulation, in case this irritates your skin.

Overall, I like this product and I would recommend it. If you can find it, that is! Figs & Rouge does not have its own webshop and they do refer you to their Amazon page, where it retails for £35 and I think this is a bit on the more pricy side for quite simple ingredients. But for the price you also get nice packaging and the texture of the product is also very good. Nowadays I find the product texture more and more important. Even if you have amazing ingredients in a product, if the texture is not good, you won't enjoy using it! I'm willing to pay a bit more if that means a great texture and pretty packaging. It's currently out of stock. Feelunique also stocks Figs & Rouge, but the Hydra Matte Pore Correct Velvet Cream is not listed on there. I do think it will get back over time though, because quite some people like this product.

It's Flore approved and let me know if you have tried this and what you think of it!
